Lisa Schmidt is the heart of Love 2 Dance. She has been dancing since 1982 when her mother put her in ballet class, at age 4. As she grew, Lisa helped teach other ballet classes, as well as tap and jazz classes at her ballet studio. She did Liturgical dancing at church and was in cheerleading from 5th - 8th grade. While in high school, Lisa was one of the Pom coaches back at her grade school. As a senior in high school on the Poms team, she got to perform at Nationals held at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Then while watching Channel 11 one day while in college, she saw the beautiful ballroom dancers performing and competing and thought that was something she wanted to learn to do. It was a new form of dance she hadn't yet experienced, so she signed up to take Ballroom dance lessons. They said she caught on very quickly because of all of her dance knowledge and wanted to train her to be an instructor. Lisa was thrilled because it was all so much fun! A few months later in 1998, she tested and became a certified professional ballroom dancer at age 20. Lisa has been teaching Ballroom Dancing ever since. She worked at a couple of different studios but wanted to reach more people in her "neck of the woods." So in 2004, Lisa started Love 2 Dance in South Elgin. She is very thankful for the people that she has gotten to know over the years and the opportunities that have given her a chance to share her talent with others to help enhance their lives through dance.
